Funny Ha Ha And Funny Peculiar

Funny Ha Ha and Funny Peculiar (1965) by Denys Parsons
Pan Books Edition – Available from Crappy Old Books

Looking for a laugh that’s a little left of centre? Funny Ha Ha and Funny Peculiar is a vintage collection of the odd, the absurd, and the unintentionally hilarious from the golden days of British print. Compiled by Denys Parsons — the master of the misprint and the sovereign of silly snippets — this 1965 classic serves up real clippings from newspapers, parish magazines, and public notices that were probably serious at the time... but absolutely aren’t now.

Expect accidental innuendos, mangled announcements, and priceless phrasing that turns everyday English into a comedy masterclass. From dinner menus gone wrong to unintentionally filthy church bulletins, this book is a reminder that the funniest things in life are often the ones that weren’t meant to be.

Brought to you by Crappy Old Books, where the pages are yellowed, the covers are worn, and the laughs are perfectly preserved.
